Our first stop was seeing 3 camels. |
The Fiber Arts Group that I belong to went on the annual Fiber & Farm Tour in Edgewood, New Mexico yesterday. To start our day out right, I gave each one of these women a
strawberry bag that I had made. There were 9 farms on the tour, but we only made it to 4 of them. There was a lot of driving involved and since none of had ever gone before, we weren't sure where the farms were or the distances involved between the farms. Some were quite a few miles apart. The tour was from 10-4 and that wouldn't be enough time to stop at them and make a lunch stop too. I think 4 stops was enough to give us an idea and we did see camels, alpacas, birds and lots of fibers.

7 out of the 10 of us who went posed for this shot. |
The 2 camels in the structure wouldn't come all the way outside. |
Recently shorn alpacas. They have the cutest faces. |
Don't you love those hairdos? Looks like they have bangs, since the rest of their fur has been shorn. |
There were some peacocks at this stop. |
This tom turkey was dancing around spreading his tail feathers and gobbling. |
Another peacock. I wish they had spread out their tail feathers like the tom turkeys did. |
We stopped for a delicious lunch at the East Mountain Grill. The service was great and the waiter was friendly. Lots of great choices on the menu. |
Angela actually posed for this shot (she's the one behind the menu), normally she would duck under the table, ha, ha. |
After lunch we went to Busy Bee Quilt Shop, which was in the same shopping plaza as the restaurant. This quilt was hanging on the wall. It's a raw edge applique. My first time at this quilt shop and I was impressed by the large assortment of fabrics they carried, and how super friendly and nice the owners were. I had heard nothing but great things about this shop and now I can say it's all true. |
I bought a package of needles and this batik fat quarter at Busy Bee. Love the colors in this one. |
Our last stop on the tour was to Robin Pascal, who is a fiber artist. I bought a bag of rainbow colored wool. Love those colors! |
I also bought 3 skeins of yarn (on sale too). The pink is a cotton blend, the middle green variegated yarn is a super soft merino blend and the variegated blue is also a merino blend with nylon, so that means I'll be knitting some blue socks.

We had a great time on our first outing together as a group. It was something different to do and see. We saw parts of Edgewood we hadn't seen before. I gave each one of these women a
strawberry bag that I made too.

Sounds like a great trip to the farms. I love the faces on the Alpaca too. The variegated green wool looks just yummy.
